Medea-Chart at the International Conference on the History of Cartography, Amsterdam, last July

Some members of the Medea-Chart team, the researchers Joaquim Gaspar, Henrique Leitão, Gregory McIntosh and Bruno Almeida, attended the International Conference on the History of Cartography (ICHC 2019) in Amsterdam, last month. All had the opportunity to present their work to a large audience of experts from all fields of Cartography and hear from the latest results on the subject. According to the researchers, "the meeting was very good and extremely productive". "Great opportunity for networking as well". Joaquim Alves Gaspar gave a Ted Talk in May under the topic of the Maritime Discoveries and shows how cartographers and seafarers dealt with the geometric inconsistencies of the early modern nautical charts. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community from "Universidade de Lisboa". The full talk can be accessed here.
